Flower logo Eco Justice Cross Creek AKA the Green Team
If you’re a Cross Creeker who cares about the environment,
this is the team to join!

Mission

The Eco-Justice team works through worship, education, group and individual action, advocacy in the larger community, and participation in partnerships with local, state and national faith groups to promote earth care. In so doing, we are constantly becoming more what God would have us to be: good stewards of the whole of creation in loving response to the abundant providence of our Creator God.

About us

The Green Team, one of four core teams that are part of Cross Creek’s Justice and Witness Ministry, needs a team leader! If environmental justice and living green is important to you, contact Justice and Witness Ministry chair, David Lauri (justice@crosscreekchurch.org).

The Green Team communicates through a Yahoo Group—visit groups.yahoo.com/group/cccc_environment to join or just to read our past messages. We do not meet on a regular schedule, instead meeting as needed, alternating between phone conferences and face-to-face meetings—join our Yahoo Group or visit Cross Creek’s events page to learn about upcoming Green Team meetings and activities.

Covenant with Ohio Interfaith Power and Light

Ohio Interfaith Power and Light At the Congregational Meeting held on June 14, 2009, Cross Creek covenant members voted to affirm a congregational covenant with Ohio Interfaith Power and Light (OhIPL), a group that mobilizes a religious response to climate change and that promotes energy conservation, energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Through this covenant, “Cross Creek Community Church pledges to support the goals of Ohio Interfaith Power and Light, in part by engaging in an ongoing process of education with our members concerning energy production and usage in relation to climate change.”

Additional ideas for the Green Team to work on:
  • Partnering with Feeding Friends team members and other Cross Creekers to find creative ways to garden both at church and at home to supply fresh produce to Feeding Friends clients and to Cross Creekers looking to eat locally
  • Small groups in which members will learn how to go on a “low-carbon diet”
  • Sharing other home-made biodegradable cleaning products
  • New library books to help you go even greener!
