About us

Feeding Friends, one of the core teams that are part of Cross Creek’s Justice and Witness Ministry, is currently led by Janice Kemp and Barry Caslin (feedingfriends@crosscreekchurch.org).

Information for clients

Household size Yearly income Monthly income Weekly income

We serve anyone who meets the income guidelines as laid out by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (see table to right).

You do not have to bring any proof of income. You do not have to fill out the JFS form before coming—one of our intake volunteers will assist you with the form during our intake process.

For your safety and comfort, we ask clients not to arrive before 7:00 a.m. — we cannot admit any clients into our building before then.

We do allow clients to enter the building at 7:00 and to wait in our church parlor, and if our intake volunteers are ready, we may start the intake process before 7:30, but under no circumstances will we begin shopping before 7:30 a.m. If you’d prefer not to wait as long, you might want to arrive at 8:00 or 8:30—we do try to order sufficient food each month based on our historical patterns.

Volunteering

New: As of March 2012, thanks in part to a grant from the Centerville-Washington Foundation, we now have a refrigerator!
New refrigerator stocked with eggs and milk

To volunteer, contact Janice or Barry at feedingfriends@crosscreekchurch.org. You can also just show up on Saturday morning when our food pantry is open, and/or you can come to a volunteer meeting (see below) to get more information.

Every time the pantry is open, volunteers are needed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. Even if you can’t come for the entire time, coming for part of the time helps!

Volunteers help with greeting, intake, assisting shoppers, bagging groceries, and clean up. Youth volunteers accompanied by an adult are welcome to join.

Volunteers unloading the delivery truck on a Friday
We also need volunteers on the Friday before each pantry date to help with setting up and with receiving the delivery of food from the Foodbank. The Foodbank’s truck arrives between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. If you can help on Friday mornings, let Janice or Barry know.

We also have other tasks such as fundraising, publicity and reporting that take place through out the month.
